Prior to finding her calling as an Oriental medicine practitioner, Drea spent many years as a political and social justice activist. In the midst of battling her own personal health challenges and fighting for a free and just world, she began to realize that the greatest revolutionary acts happen inside one's self. Through her own healing process, she discovered acupuncture and Oriental medicine. The benefits were transformative for her and she decided to dedicate her life to helping others find liberation through health.
Drea received her Master's degree in Oriental medicine from the AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine in Austin, Texas in early 2011. Her approach to acupuncture is multidimensional and incorporates various styles and advanced theories including Master Tung's points and theory, balance method, five elements theory, auricular acupuncture, and esoteric acupuncture. She also trained Tui'na, a type of Asian bodywork therapy, under Dr. Yongxin Fan and is a certified practitioner of Asian bodywork therapy under the American Organization for Bodywork Therapies of Asia (AOBTA). She is a NC licensed acupuncturist and certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She meets all national certification requirements for both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
