Today’s diet consists in great part of refined, processed foods, high in saturated fats and low in fiber. Eating these foods, overeating, ignoring the call to eliminate, stress, allergies, medications, lack of exercise and environmental toxins can contribute to overacidity in the body, sluggishness, poor digestion, respiratory and skin problems and poor colon health.
The colon contains the largest concentration of bacteria in the body. Waste matter that stagnates alters the proportion of healthy vs. harmful bacteria disrupting the balance of the healthy microorganisms that are essential to the health of the colon and the body in general. Symptoms such as constipation, diarrhea, IBS, gas and bloating, body odor, fatigue and bad breath may occur. Regular colonics help to keep your digestive system, kidneys and liver functioning properly which helps your body to cleanse and eliminate regularly on its own.
Colon hydrotherapy or colonics can support your body in feeling lighter and more balanced and to facilitate increased absorption of nutrients to better nourish your body. Colon hydrotherapy is the safe
and gentle method of cleansing the colon of toxins and accumulated waste matter.
A disposable speculum is inserted approximately two inches into the rectum. There are two tubes extending from the speculum and filtered gravity fed water flows through one of these tubes called the inflow tube into the colon. Once the client attains a “full” feeling the water and the accompanying waste is led out of the outflow tube directly into the septic system.
During each cycle of filling and emptying the therapist will gently massage the abdominal area to enhance the releasing process. The gravity colonic system is a closed system which means that nothing is exposed to the air and there is no odor. It is also different from a pressure system in that the water is not
pumped or sped up but flows at its natural pace and is infused in a more gentle manner and can be tailored to the individual client’s needs.
If you have any of these contraindications, colon hydrotherapy is NOT advised. Once they have subsided or been eliminated, colon therapy may be indicated with PRESCRIPTION from your licensed physician.
Congestive heart failure of organic valve disease

Before Your Session
For a day or two before your session, drink lots of filtered water (at least half your body weight in ounces), herbal teas, fresh juices, green smoothies and clear broths like miso or homemade stock.. Your food intake should consist of organic and seasonal vegetables, soups and small portions of light proteins and whole grains if you tolerate them. Eating in this manner will naturally create a healthier intestinal atmosphere, reduce build up of excess gas and encourage normal elimination.
Day of Session
On the day of your session, drinking water and consuming vegetables will shift your body into a deeper cleansing mode. For approximately 2 hours prior to your appointment, try to avoid eating or drinking so you're not in active digestion mode and to prevent your bladder from filling during the treatment.
After Your Session
You can eat as soon as you want after a colonic. I suggest consuming foods and beverages rich in beneficial cultures like coconut water kefir, kombucha tea, cultured vegetables and miso soup. Also important is a daily probiotic supplement. Other good foods include dark leafy greens and "juicy" vegetables like zucchini and summer squash. Limit starchy vegetables like peas, green beans and root vegetables. Light proteins like fish and poultry and whole grains like miller, quinoa, amaranth and buckwheat are good choices if your system tolerates them.
It is not uncommon for 1-3 days to pass before your first bowel movement after a session. Remember the whole digestive tract is one long tube, so it may take some time for your colon to refill. Until you have a bowel movement, I suggest that you eliminate foods which you know to be allergic, constipating and bloat inducing like bread and other flour based products, cheeses and ice cream, refined sugar products, fatty & fried foods, junk & processed foods and gas-producing foods like beans, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, onions, peppers, raw apples, and soy products. Avoid alcohol, heavier meats like beef and pork, and always avoid overeating.
